The 2018 Festival of the Trees will open on Tuesday, November 6th and close Saturday, December 29th. Trees this year will be decorated under the theme, “Celebrating 200 Years of Shelby County Memories: From Settlers to Today.” This year’s theme was chosen to celebrate the anniversary of the first settlers in what became Shelby County, in 1818.
In keeping with this theme, the museum invites the community to participate in the exhibit by entering a tree that celebrates their church, organization, business or family history in Shelby County. The museum staff encourages participants to be creative with the theme and celebrate any aspect of local or personal history that they wish.
Participants may set up their tree during normal business hours from October 23rd to November 3rd. All participants are required to provide their own tree, decorations and lights. If you are interested in decorating a tree, either as an individual, family, business, school or social group, call the Grover Museum office and let the staff know. 317-392-4634. They would be happy to answer any questions about the theme or decorating details.
